Birth Tissue Donations
Birth tissue donation is one of the easiest ways to make a significant impact on the lives of others.
One donated placenta and umbilical cord can help up to 75 people.
Once you make the decision to donate, Sharing Miracles will ensure the safety of the birth tissue for awaiting recipients by screening for relevant communicable diseases. Before your baby is born, you will need to complete the following:
- Read, understand, and sign an informed consent document
- Complete a confidential donor risk assessment interview. This interview is similar to the ones you would have when you donate blood. (20-25 minutes)
- Allow Sharing Miracles to test a sample of your blood for infectious diseases. This is collected during your routine pre-admission testing.
- Provide access to your prenatal, delivery and infant medical records
